It sounds like you were essentially already eating along the lines of the Elimination Diet, so maybe you didn't get to enjoy that initial drop, which I well know would have been disheartening for you. (Trying to look on the bright side, at least you have finished cleaning up your diet, as in no more sweets etc., so you have done your body a favor.)
As to why you are not losing weight despite following the program so closely, I'm sure Dax would have many more insightful comments for you. Because you write that you are really adhering to the diet and the exercise. Are you taking weekly measurements? Are they staying put as well? How is your energy? Do you find yourself craving sweets or anything else?
Not knowing what you have tried in the past or during the last two months, I would suggest the wave diet if you are on the fence about it. I did one cycle of it and lost 3 pounds, and believe me when I tell you nothing was really moving of any significance for a few weeks before that. I had to take two days off (tough weekend!) so today I have started the 2nd cycle and I am really comfortable with it. I left a comment on Margot's page about what I'm eating, and it isn't very exciting, but I am really happy knowing that I am eating incredibly nourishing and vibrant food that is giving me great energy.
Drink plenty of water. Don't let too much time pass between meals or your body will get stubborn. Make sure you are having enough to eat... or, depending, be honest about whether your portions are too large. Only you can tell. But we are all here, floating around, trying to figure ourselves out too, so please don't feel alone!! Good Luck, Hilary!
I just do not know what to say....I know that there are times I am not doing the workouts as diligently as I should have and that is the area that has always been a problem for me. The food has never been a big issue.
The only other thought I have is having your doctor run checks on your metabolism and thyroid..If you are taking medications this also can have an impact. My BP is a constant issue.. 90% of the time it is under control but when it's not my body rebels..
While you may not have lost everything you wanted or have the same results as some of us...maybe you did not need to lose as much as we did. I am at least 50 to 60 lbs overweight. Losing the first 20 was a ton of water and bloat...this past week was only 1 lb. For me I am wearing clothes that I have not had on for 2 years..that is huge. I am truely sorry that you are so discouraged. If I had a wand I would wiggle it.. The last thought might be to add 1/2 hr walk to your impacted schedule... This may help your body keep burning fat...Whatever the outcome, we have all learned that we can do anything if we put our mind to it.
Have great rest of the week.
Are you still out there? We have not heard much from you lately...I hope all is well.
Is it 9 something in the morning there? It is 2:50 am here. I am at work. I work in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Got stuck in isolation with 2 babies with RSV so have a bit more time on my hands than usual as usually have 3 babies.
What do you do in Edmonton, London?? Are you at work now?
Hi I just thought I would check in with you and see if you are doing OK? We have not heard much from you since your blog on the 20th. I hope you are not getting discouraged. The first 30 days are going to be a bit rough...I know that I am feeling some different aches and pains than last week. Let us know how you are doing.. Please don't give up..We are all in this together.
I have found over the years that planning and being flexible are not really opposites. If you have a plan then when things do not go as anticipated by being flexible, you are open to other options and possiblitlities. I too love bread. I am very much a meat, potatoes, & gravy kind of girl. However I want to be thinner more than I want the bread. I really believe you can do or achieve anything you want if you want it bad enough. If you plan things out as best you can, then making good decisions is much easier since you are not faced with tough decisions at the last minute.
