What Is Your Primary Reason For Entering The Challenge?
I need to lose at least 50 lbs. Drop at least 2 sizes by June 28 for my Son's wedding.
I want to see my collar bone again by the end of this challenge.
I want to see definition back in my upper arms at the end of 90 days. I live at the beach and like to wear sleevless tops or tank tops.
I want to lose my midriff bulge. I would like to see a flat midriff but not sure that goal is even possible.
I want to end this challenge with the attititude that exercise is a daily part of my life, and I will make time for it no matter where I am.
About Me:
57 years old living in So CA. I work for a Software Company in the Insurance Industry. I travel a lot for business and have let exercise go for the past 4 years. My goal is to change bad habits and get in better shape.

October 24, 2008

I thought I would update old and new members on my progress. When I started my challenge around the first of April I never really believed that I would lose the weight I wanted to lose. Mind you, it hasn't all been easy but it goes to show if you want something bad enough, anything is possible.

It has now been 4 months since I officially ended my challenge on July 5th, All the remainder of July, Aug, & Sept....I was not completely strict, but I did not go back to old habits either. I have n… Continue

2 months after the challenge

Hello challenge friends, new and old. The past two months for me since completing the 90 day LGNC have certainly been eventful..

Since my last blog, not much has changed and that is especially good news with regard to my weight loss....I have not gained or loss any weight...so I am feeling confident that I will be able to attack the remaining pounds I want to lose without a lot of hassle.

One of my original goals at the start of my challenge was to change my eating habits not for the short ter… Continue

Testing the waters

Another week has passed since the end of my challenge. I am traveling extensively. This past week had me flying to Nashville, TN, which included a 3 hr layover in Denver, then once I arrived in TN, I had a 2 hour drive to a small town in Kentucy and I lost 2 hours due to time change.

The food was a bit more difficult as it is in any small town. Not too many options especially when it's 8 pm and you are really hungry. I ended up in a fast food restaurant and what a mistake that was. It tasted gr… Continue

2 weeks later Good News Bad News

Although I have been checking the site and making comments I have not done much blogging so I decided to own up to what has been going on with me this past week.

Monday started a trip to Chicago and that lasted until I got home thursday night around 9 pm. Long days on site at the client.... Stayed in a lovely hotel, with great restaurant...not sure if that fits into the good column or the bad one.

Best off all there is a new shopping center right across the street and I found myself indulging… Continue

1 week later life after the challenge

I did take Dax's advice and went very lite on workouts but I decided that since I was home all week and had very little work on my agenda the entire week, I decided to do my version of a very strict wave....almost too strict as I was hungry some of the time, but I stuck to it...I lost another 3 pounds so I finally hit my goal weight of 180 a total of 30 pounds for the total time. Since I started 4 days later than everyone else.....technically this was the end of my 90 days....but I have no compl… Continue

Thanks for the encouragement Margot. I took some strawberries, almonds and goji berries to work today for snacks and had half in the morning and half in the afternoon. Very nice. We're in spring, coming into summer here and all the fruit is delicious.

Cheers, Libby

Hi Margot,

It was great to hear from you. The wedding was 6th Sept. It seems like ages away now. The time has gone so quickly. I am going to put a photo up on her when I can. It was a really great day but it went by so fast. My weight hadn't changed much though I had lost some of my tone, but I didn;t mind as my skirt just did up :-)

We got back off honeymoon to Egypt on Monday and was amazed to weigh myself yesterday and be the same weight as when I went away, but my body fat was lower. So was Rich's. Very strange. We loved diving and di our course and saw some amazing places, Cairo, Luxor and Petra in Jordan.

Well done for not putting any weight back on. That really is the hard part. I want to do the magic 100 at some point too. What's the 30 day challenge? Now I am back I want to get back into things. Not for weight loss as I don't need it, but to get really fit again as I have lost a lot over the last month. I must get back into things.

Thank you for the welcome Margot! I am really nervous but excited at the same time. I've looked at everyone's progress and it is reassuring to see how well everyone has done. Congratulations on your achievement!

Margot,
I have not met my goal. I've lost 10-12 lbs. depends on the day. I continue to do well on the diet when I am home and as good as I can when I am not at home. The exercises - I haven't been as faithful. I do other exercises, but it's not the same. I'm in Scottsdale, AZ this week at a one week seminar with Jack Canfield. Not a lot of time tonight to blog - I have homework. Glad to hear you are holding your own on the diet even 2 months out. More later.

If you buy Dax's Elimination Diet Cookbook there are desserts in it that are quite good. Maybe you can substitiute those treats for heavily dosed sugar ones. He has scones and all sorts of other treats... you could also make your own sorbets. If the kids are young, it might be they won't notice as long as there are still treats....they just happen to be healthy ones.
I made smoothies for dessert...it was like having a shake and it curbed my sweet tooth. I even made double and froze them, it was like eating ice cream... well almost.

Thank you Margot for being so supportive! I really need to cut out all sugar as I notice it does not have a good effect on me. That is definitely going to be the hardest thing for me as my sons are young and we always have sweet stuff around, and I love to bake!

Margot, My husband is halfway on the plan. He exercises with me and eats the same foods I eat; however, he occasionally does indulge in sweets! He has lost about 10 lbs, much of which he lost before he started this program with me. He was on the lemonade diet (mostly he wanted to do that for the "cleanse of the colon". But, usually when you go off of that diet you gain quite a bit of the weight back and he has maintained, so I guess that's a weight loss in effect. Long answer to a short question. Hope all is well in CA.

Thanks Margot! The first I heard of it was when I read Dax's newsletter this morning! I think we're all winners ...achieving our weightloss/fitness goals is the most important thing....although I'm more than happy with the bonus of a trip to Thailand :-)

Zumba is an exercise class that incorporates latin dance. It's just a lot of fun. There are some fast songs that get your heart going and some slower ones where you just "move" and it takes you mind off of all your daily troubles!!!
